Good news for Italian Team in the upcoming Champions league 2024/25
As we are the last stages of the UEFA Champions League, La Gazzetta dello Sport, which is an Italian daily news published that the upcoming Uefa Champions League 2024/25 five Italian football teams will participate in this competition. Although no Italian team has reached the Champions League semi-final, the Italian team who will be representatives in the coming competition will be soared into five teams. This is because they have done an impressive job in the other tournaments as Roma and Atalanta are set to play UEFA Europa League Semi-finals and Fiorentina in the Semi-final of the Conference League.
It is notable that Napoli was eliminated by Barcelona and Inter Milan by Atletico Madrid at the knock-out stage of round 16. Fortunately, UEFA Coefficient ranking has upgraded Italy (19.285 points) into first place followed by Germany (17.642 points), England (17.375 points) and Spain (15.312) as published in EUFA’s website.
How 2024/25 Champions League Look Like
A meeting in Vienna by the UEFA Executive Committee kicked off a new format for the Champions League, which intends to raise the participating teams in this contested competition. And 2023/24 will be the last format of UEFA Champions League.
The new format will involve 36 teams and be placed in one single league called “Swiss Model”. The league will be divided into four spots of nine teams. And the league team will have an opportunity to play eight matches; Four home and four away. The top eight teams will qualify into the round 16 of the knock-out stage. It is decided to finish the group stages of the competition in January of each year instead of December (As it is now).
As teams reach the round 16 onwards, the competition will continue as its previous years; the two-legged know-out games and one-legged knock-out final.
